Improved well depth using DwpD

Improved well depth using DwpD.jpg

Driller’s Way-point Depth (DwpD) offers enhanced drill pipe derived well depth determination by utilizing rig-state information, particularly during Pulling Out of Hole (POOH) with Simple Sliding Motion (SSM). Using the POOH SSM rig-state as part of the DwpD method minimizes complex corrections by focusing only on thermal expansion and elastic stretch. DwpD reduces uncertainty associated with well depth determination, leading to better reservoir modeling and more efficient resource extraction. Way-points, being speciifc subsurface events identifed along the well bore, serve as positional references identifed using calibrated pipe length and pipe length corrections.

3D Way-point method enhances 3D positional accuracy by using the "Milking Chair"  principle to balance well depth, inclination, and azimuth accuracy requirements. Positional uncertainty is calculated by concatenating interval uncertainties between way-points resulting in more reliable subsurface positioning.
